Obs de Zwaluw primary school is attended by children aged 4–12. The area of the school is about 1000 square meters and there are about 300 students in the school. The actual school planning was already carried out by CDM. This time, the design focused on classroom furniture.
In Holland, school furniture is updated every 20 years, so the durability of the furniture is important. The starting point in the design was that with the help of the furniture, we want to support modern, diverse teaching. In addition, flexibility in conversion was taken into account in the furniture, so that the three school’s furniture are compatible with each other. In this way, the furniture can be varied between schools when the number of students varies each year.
Since the change was wanted to be high-quality and inclusive, students and teachers were included in the planning from the beginning. CDM Involver was chosen for participation, because it maps all the key areas well, and it is made precisely for planning learning environments. Based on the results of CDM Involver, the actual furniture design started.
