Training school of the University of Lapland

“CDM Involver is the number one implementation in Finland. It maps different areas in a really nice way, and it’s simple to use on your phone. I am extremely satisfied with the cooperation. It has been flexible, progressive and positive. I appreciate the bold and innovative approach, the fact that you don’t have to be timid about presenting ideas. We got exactly what we hoped for.”

Training school of the University of Lapland

The training school of the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi is responsible for organizing basic education, teacher training and continuing education for teachers. In addition, the school operates in a networked manner in the research, experimentation and development activities of training schools in Finland. There are grades 1–9, music classes 1–6, and approximately 580 students.

The training school operates in premises that have been renovated and added to the premises of the old Keskuskansakoulu. Structures determine what can be changed in the premises. What was fascinating about the transformation planning was precisely how old facilities can be converted to support modern teaching, where, for example, co-teaching teams work. Since the change was wanted to be high-quality and inclusive, students and teachers were included in the planning from the beginning. CDM Involver was chosen for participation, because it maps all the key areas well, and it is made precisely for planning learning environments.

Based on the results of CDM Involver, the entire planning process started. The results clearly showed what stimuli, what kind of spaces, color worlds and learning spaces are wanted. The survey was somewhat customized for the training school, and it was implemented on a tight schedule over a period of two to three months. Based on the results, a comprehensive change work was carried out in the school premises.
